Pilsen Liberation Festival Tour

April 2012

Come and be part of a very special and historically significant tour. Come with MilSpec Tours and join General Patton’s grandson, George Patton ‘Pat’ Waters and the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation in the beautiful, historic city of Pilsen in the Czech Republic. Enjoy Pilsen’s spectacular three day Liberation Festival, the greatest and most famous of its kind in Europe to which we are invited as guests of honor.

As part of the Pilsen Liberation Festival, the first General George S Patton Scholarship of Honor (www.briansjourney.com/soh/pilsen) will be ceremonially awarded by General Patton’s grandson George Patton Waters and WW II veteran Marion Kirkham in honor of his brother Virgil Kirkham, killed near Pilsen on April 30 1945, the last recorded American USAAF pilot killed in Europe during WWII.

During the tour, we see the huge Merkers saltmines where the Third Reich’s treasures were hidden, Nuremberg with its Nazi Rallies area and War Crimes Trials Palace of Justice, Flossenbuerg concentration camp where many VIP prisoners were held and executed, and the beautiful, historic Czech capital, Prague. After this tour, there is a separate optional extension tour from Prague to Salzburg and Hitler’s Third Reich mountain HQ around Berchtesgaden, Obersalzberg and the Eagle’s Nest. From there we visit Dachau concentration camp and Munich.

106th Infantry Division Battlefield Tour

Join us May 13-20, 2012, as we explore the 106th history in the famous Battle of the Bulge. After bearing the brunt of the unexpected massive German Bulge offensive on December 16, 1944, two regiments were cut off without supplies and became prisoners of war on December 19th. They had a tragically short but honorable, courageous and important war since they delayed the German capture of St. Vith, vital to the German offensive as a forward supply depot and communications center. The third regiment and other 106th units escaped encirclement and went on to heroically defend St. Vith and stop a German breakthrough on the northern shoulder of the Bulge. Our tour covers in depth the Bulge combat history of the 106th, including the prisoners of war’s long march into captivity.

Memorial Day in the Bulge and D-Day

in Normandy

We explore two of the most significant battles of World War II. We begin on Memorial Day at an American Military Cemetery where many who fought in the Battle of the Bulge are buried.  We will attend special services at the Cemetery and then begin our tour of  historic battle sites.  Over the course of several days we will tour throughout the Bulge recounting the historic events that came to be considered America’s greatest single land battle.  Then we are off to explore the beaches and battlefields of Normandy.  We will participate in special commemorations on D-Day, June 6th and see where the Allies first got a foothold in northern Europe in 1944.

George C. Marshall World War I and

World War II Leadership Tour

The George C. Marshall Foundation and MilSpec Tours commemorate the life and work of General George C. Marshall with this special European tour on the 65th Anniversary of the post-war Marshall Plan.

We tour the battlefields of World War I where a young Marshall first demonstrated his leadership and brilliance and the World War II battlefields, including Normandy and the Bulge, where the military campaign that he forged led to victory for the Allies and defeat for the Nazis.

In Paris we see where the Marshall Plan was administered and attend special ceremonies marking the 65th Anniversary of the plan that revitalized the economies of western Europe.  Download the complete brochure here: George C. Marshall 2012 European Tour
